Where has our America gone
What happened to the country we loved and counted on
The place we always knew where we belong
It may look a little different but it’s been here all along

It’s the courage in the eyes of the nurses and the doctors
New York City cheering for all those first responders
It’s makin’ time for the ones who’ve gotta’ face this all alone
Or a bittersweet goodbye through the window of a nursing home

Where has our America gone
What happened to the country we loved and counted on
The place we always knew where we belong
It may look a little different but it’s been here all along

It’s a dollar for a woman or a man without a home
Sleepin’ on the sidewalk in the town where you were born
It’s a Sunday wave across the fence one neighbor to another
And callin’ up your mama just to tell her that you love her
