Greater Than I Am Today
(back) (listen / download)
I got a million dollar smile that stops a heart at half a mile
So say my shiny silver tongue and pearly whites
I watch the hours come and go until the sun is sinking low
With these two diamonds in the rough disguised as eyes
I hear the supersonic wave that echo all around the caves
Of Quathiaski, Gondolin, and Villa Luz
And when the ultraviolet arcs start bending rainbows in the dark
I take a bite and chew the light ‘til it’s diffused
Do you love me yet? Are you blown away?
Or do I need to get something better still to say
Do you love me now? Are you gonna’ stay?
Or am I going down unless tomorrow
I am somehow so much greater than I am today
I got a birthmark on my back ten inches long to be exact
Of what the world was like before the dawn of man
When I began to stand right here a couple hundred thousand years
Before our senses drew a circle in the sand
My heart was built from solid oak carved out inside and filled with smoke
A magic eight ball for the blind to lead the blind
The winds of change are overhead while on the ground a cigarette
Is burning slowly in the patient hands of time
Do you love me yet? Are you blown away?
Or do I need to get something better still to say
Do you love me now? Are you gonna’ stay?
Or am I going down unless tomorrow
I am somehow so much greater than I am today
Lift up the curtain and I’m certain you will see
The buried treasure you desire
Just help me out first can you tell me how to be
The kind of the main that you admire
