I couldn’t help but notice that the watch on his wrist
Was a vintage Omega made in 1936
Now I asked him where he got it and he gave me a smile
So I bought us both a drink and sat down for awhile
Well he started saying something ‘bout dangerous curves
He said he always kept his cool and never lost his nerves
But when his whistle starting blowing and his pistons were hot
Even a dead man’s handle couldn’t get him to stop
He knows all the tracks and he never looks back
He was hitchin’ a ride on Mary Lou
He said he hopped on the caboose, he had nothing to lose
He had her engine screamin’ choo choo choo
She was a real piece of work some would say a machine
You couldn’t stop that steam if you know what I mean
And he was riding on the rim but then he crossed the line
Now he’ll do 90 miles an hour ‘til the sun don’t shine
He knows all the tracks and he never looks back
He was hitchin’ a ride on Mary Lou
He said he hopped on the caboose, he had nothing to lose
He had her engine screamin’ choo choo choo
He was getting derailed, I got him back on track
Was he running a train or was he in the sack?
I asked a really simple question, that was hours ago
Was Mary Lou a piece of metal or a woman he knows?
It was over so fast and then he slipped outside
She was smoking as they boarded for her next big ride
As the baggage left the station and he watched her wheels rollin’
He looked down at his wrist and remembered what he’d stolen
